All kind of sites can be found on net. From beautiful
designed, technically superrior, functional to their
opposites. However, it seems to me that most usuall is combination of these
two opposites. Most of sites have solid design
(original or stolen - it is another question), but are technically
very poorly done. There are few reasons for that:
The main reason is poor technological knowledge of clients. Client has developed a business, printed business cards, paid advertising, and the time has came for web site development. Totally correct! But what developer should be hired to do the job?
Low budget clients will find gifted neighborhood kid (or relative), which is great "in computer", Photoshop and Dream Weaver or similar software. In better case kid will be familiar with programming, and client will get a "state of the art" web site for peanuts.
High budget clients will search for more serious, experienced developer or a small company. There things stand slightly better, however, even among professional web developers there are a lot of phonies and amateurs, so paying big bucks for site does not guarantee that you'll get a quality product. So, don't be fooled with colorful pictures and "cool" Flash animations - more significant is what is hidden "under the hood. "
